As the legend goes, his name is Don Juan…
His name is Don Juan and he is known as a womanizer, but in Mozart’s musical version of the story, he goes by Don Giovanni.
In late May, our chapter was invited to the Royal Danish Opera by one of our newest member, Maria Redke. Maria has been involved in the musical industry for many years, so she coordinated this social event for our members. The show of the night was Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
The members, who were signed up for this event, met Friday the 23th of May outside the Royal Danish Opera. It was a sunny day and the streets were crowded with tons of people. We where about 16 members and we all ended up having good seats on the second floor for the big show.
Experienecing Mozart’s classic story was an absolutely refreshing. Although, Don Giovanni was performed in Italian with Danish supertitles it was a great experience – especially for first goers to the opera, which a number of our members were. Mozart’s masterpiece had a good portion of human tragedy and comic element to entertain the audience.
After the show ended, we took a group photo in the beautiful hallway inside the Royal Danish Opera to document our big night in the theater. The night was still young, so we decided to get a drink nearby and socialize some more…
Lastly, a special thank you to Maria Redke for making the event a big success.
